Our spotted saddle horse colt, A-Rod, has the most natural walking horse gait you can imagine. We brought him in for weaning today, September 13, 2009. At 5 months old, he is a well-built, strong colt that will grow to around 15-2 hands. He travels straight and never gets out of gait. We have never seen him trot. We named him A-Rod because he is good-looking, athletic, and fast. He will be big enough to start when he is 2. He will make someone a stylish show and trail horse. Although he is stirred up at weaning, he has a good disposition. We have worked with him quite a lot and will be working with him all winter. We had planned to breed his mother to a jack next spring, but we may breed her again to our paso fino stallion, A-Rod's sire, because we like what we see. Spotted saddle horse A-Rod was born April 29, 2009, out of our National Spotted Saddle Horse registered mare Misty and our PFHA registered stallion Espiritu de Torpedo. Both of his parents have sweet dispositions, natural gaits, and lots of energy.
Following are some short videos of A-Rod as a baby. We used the Baby Breeching, my invention, when we began tying and leading. The Baby Breeching always makes things go a lot easier for all involved.
