Gaited mules for sale for smooth, pleasurable trail riding.  Well-started and finished gaited mules for sale.  Finished means that our gaited mules for sale have good ground manners, good manners under saddle, and lots of trail experience.  It also means that a rider with some experience with gaited horses or some experience with mules can get the mule to gait.  Our well-started gaited mules for sale are young mules that have had a minimum of a month of professional training, exhibit a willing and obedient attitude, gait regularly, and have had several trail experiences.  To become finished, a well-started mule needs to be ridden easy and often.  Our gaited mules for sale have dispositions that are people loving, willing, and obedient.  That said, riding success on any equine depends on the rider having a level of confidence, competence, and experience either riding horses or mules.

Our finished gaited mules for sale have Certificates of Registration from AGMA, the American Gaited Mule Association, certifying that they have demonstrated the ability to perform a smooth 4-beat gait.  As a charter member of AGMA and Missouri AGMA Coordinator, John is superintendent of the first AGMA Championship Show in Missouri that will be held in conjunction with the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia, Missouri, on Sunday, August 16, 12:30 P.M.  Click to view the Missouri AGMA Championship Show schedule.  Come one and all to participate in or watch this first AGMA show in Missouri.

John gets a lot of questions about gaited mules and gaited mule training.  If you are interested, you can Listen to John's Perspectives on Gaited Mules on the difference between mules and horses, the difference between gaited horses and gaited mules, mule physical and psychological traits, the training process for gaited mules, and other gaited mule questions and issues.

Gaited mules have a gait that is smooth and distinct from the trot of an ungaited mule.  The gaited mule may exhibit a single foot, fox trot, running walk, stepping pace, rack, paso fino gait, or combination gait.  Therefore, gaited mules give a ride that is more comfortable than that of an ungaited mule.  The ride of a gaited mule is similar to that of a gaited horse such as a Tennessee walking horse, fox trotter, or paso fino horse.  For us to represent a mule as gaited, the mule has to do more than a flat foot walk.  To represent a mule as gaited, we require the mule to do one or more gaits bare footed or light shod, in addition to a flat foot walk.

SOLD - Gaited Mule For Sale, AGMA Registered Molly Mule Ruby, out of a Registered Foxtrotter.  Ruby is a 15-2 1/2, elegant ruby red sorrel, gaited molly mule out of a registered foxtrotter mare.  Ruby will soon turn four so she probably has her growth at around 15-3.  Ruby has excellent conformation and a very pretty head.  Ruby gaits very naturally, moving from a comfortable flat foot walk to an easy rack.  We believe that Ruby will be competitive in gaited racking mule classes.  She racks a hole in the ground and is happy doing it.  Ruby is a calm, warm-hearted, responsive young mule that is ridden with a light touch of collection.  She loads, clips, and shoes easily.  She takes everything in stride as she learns about the world.  She has been used in judging field trials where she has been around dogs and guns.  Ruby is a gaited mule for sale with a good heart and mind and a very natural gait.  Double Click on the Short Clip of Ruby.

SOLD - Gaited Mule For Sale, AGMA Registered Molly Mule Cindy, out of a Registered Paso Fino.  Cindy is a four-year-old finished paso fino molly mule our of our registered paso fino mare Chiquita Linda.  Cindy is 14-1 1/2, a handy size for the small to medium-sized rider.  John also rode Cindy in October at the Cross Country Trail Ride in Eminence, MO.  Cindy is really gaiting well and will get better and better.  We have found that paso fino mules mature more slowly than other gaited mules.  Short Clip of Cindy Gaiting.  Cindy is so well broke that John can ride her into the trailer. Trailering Cindy  We took another video of Gaited Pasofino Mule Cindy on April 6, 2008.  Cindy is really coming on in the paso gait.  She goes up and down hills like a little caterpillar.  Cindy is a top-notch gaited paso fino mule for sale.

SOLD - Gaited Mule For Sale, John Mule Mike, out of a Belgian/Walking Mare.  Gaited Mule Mike is a big mule for the rider that needs a big mule.  He will be able to keep up with good company.  As a two-year old, Mike was trained to ride and drive single and double.  He pulled an Amish buggy to town, which is a scary thing since the buggy is tall and noisy.  Mike will be three this spring.  John says that Mike is the nicest gaited john mule that he has ever worked with.  He will leave the herd to come see John when he goes to get him for riding.  Not only is he sensible and calm, he is also well gaited.  In this short clip of gaited mule Mike you can see his potential.  This clip shows John trimming Mike's mane and whiskers with ease.  This clip shows Mike with a young rider. He is a beautiful mule that will make you proud either under saddle or pulling a buggy.  John also rode Mike at the Cross Country Trail Ride in October '08.  Mike will get to be around 16 hands and 1,200 pounds when he is full grown and at full strength.  Mike is a sweetheart of a gaited john mule for the rider who needs a big, strong gaited mule.

Gaited Paso Fino Mule For Sale, Jitter Bug.  SOLD - Jitter Bug is a 4-year-old paso fino mule for sale out of our registered paso fino mare John's Rose.  Her mother is short but Jitter Bug is 15-2 and around 1,000 pounds.  She would be suitable for a person and saddle totalling around 250 pounds currently and will get a little stronger in the next couple years.  She is blond sorrel and good looking with some mane and a nice tail.  After two months of professional training, John has been riding her regularly.  John thinks that Jitter Bug is the nicest gaited mule for sale that we have raised.  She never gets out of a 4-beat gait, no trot or pace.  She does a fast, smooth flat walk, a running walk, and a foxtrot.  Every step she takes is smooth.  She has a sweet, calm temperament.  She loves people and gets along well with other horses and mules.  All of our paso fino horses for sale and gaited mules for sale are big pets that love people.  These four short videos were taken August 6, 2009.  Jitter Bug in a Flat Walk, Running Walk, Foxtrot, and with the Dog.  Gaited paso fino mule Jitter is a mule for the rider who wants a dependable, stylish, and well-gaited mule for the long term.

Our Selling Process

Our gaited mules for sale are sold by private treaty.  We want a buyer to come work with the gaited mule for sale and ride the gaited mule for a couple days before buying the gaited mule.  Our gaited mules for sale have been raised as big pets and we want them to go to humane and loving homes.  A prospective buyer needs to understand that maintaining a gaited mule requires a big commitment in time, labor, and money.

The prospective buyer of the gaited mule needs to have had some experience and confidence riding gaited horses or some experience with mules.  During the couple days spent riding the gaited mule for sale, John will show and tell how the mule has been trained and help the new owner get with the gaited mule.  John's way of training may not be the best or only way to train a gaited mule, but it is the riding method that the gaited mule for sale is familiar with and will likely yield the best results until the new owner is bonded with the gaited mule.  He will also show how the gaited mule for sale has been tacked and bitted and share what he has learned about gaited mule temperament and psychology over the past fifteen years.  He will help riders who have ridden only western style and who have not ridden gaited equine learn how to ride a gaited mule two handed with mild collection.  Our goal is for all parties, including the gaited mule for sale, to be happy with the transaction.

We are a mom/pop operation (actually a grandma/grandpa operation) located in the northeast corner of Missouri, six miles east of Kirksville.  We raise and train sensible gaited trail mules.  We do not represent a gaited mule that we would not want to ride.  We require that riders sign a liability release and wear a riding helmet during the trial ride of the gaited mules for sale because riding even the best equine has inherent risks.  Our gaited mules for sale will come to the new owner in good health, with current de-worming, current vaccinations, and current dentistry.

Testimonials

To give you an idea of our selling process, please read Karen's description of buying Buttercup.  Karen accurately describes the transition time that a mule needs to bond with a new person, and the time it takes for a new rider to become confident in the new mule and get the best gait from the new gaited mule.

Norman of Washington state describes his experience with Polly, a Paso Fino molly mule we raised out of our mare Chiquita Linda de Copa.
